LUIS V. BADILLO LOZANO, AIA

Luis V. Badillo began his professional career in 1981 as a designer for renowned architecture firms. He joined Méndez, Brunner A&E in 1985, became an associate in 1989 and a full partner in 1991, when the firm changed its name to Méndez, Brunner, Badillo & Associates.

He has been responsible for the design and production of a wide range of private and public projects, among them high-end single-family homes, high-rise apartment buildings, office buildings, master plans and commercial and educational facilities, and has led the firm’s work in Panama, the British Virgin Islands and Nicaragua. His signature projects include the winning competition entry for the Arecibo Observatory Visitor Center, the McCann Erickson headquarters in Puerto Rico and Panama, the Plaza Las Américas Office Tower and parking deck, and the One Plaza and La Rambla office towers.

A past president of the AIA Puerto Rico Chapter, he taught advanced design at the New School of Architecture of Polytechnic University from 2000 to 2009, served on NAAB accreditation visiting teams for National AIA, and was Dean of the School of Architecture of the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, which under his leadership obtained NAAB accreditation.
